Statins May Reduce Blood Clots, Heart Attacks

Statin drugs, used by millions to reduce cholesterol levels and avoid heart disease, can reduce the possibility of blood clots that can form in the legs or lungs, a huge study announced on Sunday.
The study gives a new motive for those with regular cholesterol to think about taking Crestor, Lipitor and Zocor, doctors’ state.

Google Still Hiring?

Google announced Thursday that it plans to cut nearly 200 marketing and sales jobs from its international operations.
Google’s rapid growth resulted in some job duplications and the company “over-invested” in some areas, Google senior vice president of sales and business development Omid Kordestani said.
However, one day later Google announced it is hiring enough people to fill about 360 jobs including everyone from software engineers to sales and marketing positions, to one opening for a Foodservices Supply Chain Manager at Google’s Mountain View, California headquarters.

Cyberspies Hack Computers In 103 Countries

A network of cyberspies based mostly in China hacked into private and government computers in 103 countries, gaining access to a number of classified documents, Canadian researchers reported Saturday.
The Dalai Lama and many Tibetan exiles were among the victims, said the Internet-based research group Information Warfare Monitor (IWM).

Jacqui Smith under pressure over husband’s adult film expense claims

In a significant blow to her authority as one of the Cabinet’s most senior ministers, Miss Smith was forced to apologise for submitting a £10 bill for two adult movies enjoyed by her husband, Richard Timney, while she was away in London.

7 residents, 1 nurse die in nursing home shooting

A gunman barged into a North Carolina nursing home Sunday morning and started “shooting everything,” going room to room in a terrifying rampage that killed seven residents — most in their late 80s — and a nurse who cared for them.
