The White House said on Sunday that President Barack Obama plans to outline his administration’s vision for NASA, along with an eventual trip to Mars, during a conference in Florida in April.
According to Reuters, Obama is in need of reconciliation to defend his commitment to the space agency after submitting his budget to Congress, which cancelled a program to return U.S. astronauts to the moon.

Obama keeps low profile in auto rescue talks

While President-elect Barack Obama publicly sidelined himself during congressional debate over an auto industry bailout this week, he and his top aides quietly prodded congressional leaders to find a solution to rescue struggling automakers. Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in the Democratic presidential candidate’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss …

Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama

Colin Powell, a Republican and retired general who was President Bush’s first secretary of state, broke with the party Sunday and endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president, calling him a “transformational figure” while criticizing the tone of John McCain’s campaign.
The former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman said either senator is qualified to be commander in chief. But after studying both, he concluded that Obama is better suited than McCain, the standard-bearer of Powell’s own party, to handle the nation’s economic problems and help improve its world standing.
“It isn’t easy for …
